Next milonga

It was great to see all of you @ the Welsh last Friday, especially those of you recently returned from Montenegro newly infected with the tango bug! We hope you enjoyed looking at all the lovely tango shoes too – Sansha will be back again in November with more shoes, so let us know if there is a particular size or model that you’d like to see next time. And remember that dancers @ the Welsh get 20% discount on all Sansha dance shoes – you can pick up the discount leaflet any Friday at our milonga.

This week:

6.30pm-7.30pm tango classes (all levels)

7.30pm-10.30pm milonga (music and social dance – tango, vals and milonga)

Entry to the milonga:

£10 (including class, milonga and finger buffet)

£7 for dancers with a Tango @ the Welsh bonus voucher

Sandra and Santiago Monticelli

Sandra and Santiago, have an extensive teaching experience in Argentina and abroad.
Having danced in the most famous international tango shows: Tango X2, Tango Emoción, Francisco Canaro Orchestra and in the most renewed Casas de tango in Buenos Aires (eg. Señor Tango, Piazzolla Dinner Show, La Ventana, Café Tortoni, Esquina Homero Manzi) Santiago opened the Santango Estudio and B&B in the heart of the tango neighbourhood Almagro in 2007, with his partner Sandra.

They fuse their different backgrounds to get an effective and professional teaching method. Sandra has a basically artistic gymnastics and ballet training and devoted hersfelf to the practice of yoga and the study of pedagogy. Santiago has a professional jazz and contemporary dance experience…but once they got struck by tango years ago, they decided to dedicate their time to the neverending thorough study of this magic dance and complex cultural phenomenon in all its aspects, with most of the great tango masters in Buenos Aires

They pour all their experience into their teaching method and really love to offer their knowledge of the essence of tango in their lessons.

As well, their performances are an exciting mix of Tango salon, milonga traspié and choreography.

They are now on their second 2009 Europe tour to teach the most genuine Tango salon, Milonga traspié and vals.

Just a reminder that our popular evening of lessons and social dancing at the Welsh Centre is on again each Friday, and we have another week of tango technique workshops on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – details as follows:

Come on our beautiful tango holiday!

Just a reminder about our beautiful tango holiday in Montenegro – there’s a discount for people on the Oktango mailing list – if you book by 8 September the cost for the week is just £390 – a complete bargain! (Single room supplement is just £55).

Our lovely tango holiday in beautiful Montenegro ! 27 Sep – 4 Oct

I’m very excited to tell you about our 3rd tango holiday to the beautiful Adriatic resort of Herceg Novi in Montenegro – do come and join us! The last two trips were amazing, so we’re very pleased to be returning.

You’ll get 12 hours of lessons (separate levels) plus practicas and milongas. I’ll be taking the beginners/improvers classes. We’re extremely lucky to have Luis Rodriguez as our intermediate / advanced teacher – Luis is one of the UK’s top tango dancers, and is well-known for his elegant style, musical interpretation and ability to help students develop their technique to gain confidence, fluidity and enjoyment in their dance.

And of course there’ll be lots of time for a proper holiday! Herceg Novi is outstandingly beautiful, and the accommodation overlooks the bay. Our hosts Sladjana & Milan show us around the local area and make us feel very much at home.
